MDTC Meeting, March 22, 2010
Members present: Ron Amon, Menervia Akers, Jim Carrigan, Mary Cooney-Glazer, Joan Hanley, Margie Herrick, Renee Keaney, Carl King, Rose Ann McCarthy, Marilyn Segal, Marcia Sweeney, Phil Sweeney

Chairman Sweeney called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
Treasurer Horan was away.
The Chairman reported on the February Caucus. The following people were elected delegates to the Democratic State Convention to be held in June at the Worcester DCU:
Menervia Akers, Joan Brennan, Renee Keaney, Joyce Morgan Kennard, Ron Amon, and Bill Keaney. Ex-Officio delegates are: Rep Lori Ehrlich, Marcia Sweeney and Phil Sweeney.
Chairman Sweeney reported on the “transparency issue”. He met with the Chairs of the Swampscott and Nahant Committees about the bill that is in progress. He reported that Rep. Ehrlich delivered the letter from our Committee to Speaker DeLeo.
The Chairman announced that Congressman Tierney’s campaign will be conducting a signature drive on Saturday, March 27th. Members interested in helping should meet in Crosby’s parking lot at 10:00 a.m. The Chairman urged members to write “Letters to the Editor” in support of the Congressman. There have been a number of negative letters published recently. Jim Carrigan noted that the Tierney campaign wants to organize precinct by precinct.
The Chairman reported on an organization meeting for Gov. Patrick. He passed around a sign-up sheet for anyone who would like to work on the campaign.
Our Annual Picnic will be held on August 2nd. Tickets will be $20.
As mandated by the Democratic Charter, officers were elected. It was moved and seconded that the Secretary cast one ballot to re-elect the current slate of officers: Chairman Phil Sweeney, Vice Chairman Ron Amon, Secretary Joan Hanley, Treasurer Walter Horan, Affirmative Action/Compliance Officer Menervia Akers.
The following were elected as regular members: Joan Brennan, Helen Doherty and Barbara Shefftz. There are still several vacancies. Anyone interested in becoming a member should contact the Chairman.
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
