What is at Stake in the 2024 Elections

On a weekly basis we will post information on why it is so critical to elect democrats, up and down the ballot.

The Biden administration and Democratic Governors and Legislators have used every lever at their disposal to protect women after Roe v Wade was overturned. President Biden issued an Executive Order two weeks after the Dobbs decision stating "that the only way to secure a woman's right to choose is for Congress to restore the protections of Roe as federal law. Until then, he has committed to doing everything in his power to defend reproductive rights and protect access to safe and legal abortion.”

The last Republican president nominated 3 Supreme Court justices who were committed to overturning Roe. Since that far right goal was accomplished in June, 2022, 24 Republican-controlled states have implemented laws that have effectively banned abortion. Women are suffering and dying in these states. Per the NYT, "Most abortion bans include exceptions. nI practice, few are granted." A goal of the next Republican administration is a federal ban. A Federal ban would not protect woman and their families in those states that have passed laws protecting abortion.
